Old Mac'Larkin Had a Farm ...

We took Larkin to Wheeler Farm this week. She LOVED it! She really loves being outside. It is amazing to me how intense and intent she can be when we are out in nature. She loved the animals. She kept reaching for them and trying to feed them her little fingers.

It has been such a fun summer. Having a baby to cart round makes it acceptable to be excited to hang out with cows and pigs and take pictures even . Oh we have become so silly. We sing Old MacDonald and the Wheels on the Bus as we walk through our days, even as people look at us sideways we belt out our oinks and moos ... where has our dignity gone? :) Oh the things we do for our kids!

Hiking up the Canyon

We went for a walk up Little Cottonwood Canyon. It was nice to escape the heat and hike around for a little while. I really haven't been hiking since I lived in California, so my hiking boots were feeling a little neglected!

We stopped by a stream and ate some lunch. We listened to the water and talked and played for a while. Fresh air, green trees, quiet ... good for the soul!

Rock n' Roll!

Larkin has started rolling over. It was actually last week when she first rolled over, but she has been working on it for a month now. She flops and rocks and squirms all over the floor. Once in a while now if she gets her momentum going she can pull herself over onto her tummy. It is funny to watch. She gets stuck and gets mad and flips to the other side and tries that and gets stuck and gets mad ... you get the idea. She is a hoot to watch. In another week I think she will have it down and be able to control the rolls a little better.

"F" is for FIREWORKS!

I love the 4th of July! It is one of my favorite holidays. We headed to a fireworks show on Friday night that was great! We staked out our spot and settled in for a little sunbathing and fun until the sun went down. Larkin had her own hat to wear, but decided dad's was much more fun!

They had a band play right before the fireworks started that was very fun! We danced and laughed and sang along to all the Oldies ... that's the music I grew up on, so it was nostalgic for me and fun on many levels.

In the morning we got up EARLY and drove to Bren and Dave's house. We went to a fun little parade ... It was much longer than I thought it would be. Scot and I joked on the way up about staying in the car to watch the parade so we wouldn't have to cart Larkin in and out ... but it was fun. We were festive spoting our Red White and Blue for the day ... well until Larkin starting barfing through her outfits ... no holidays from the baby barf!

It was a jam-packed day! After the parade, we packed our lunch and packed into the cars and drove up to Bear Lake. We spent the afternoon up there playing in the water and relaxing on the beach. There were literally THOUSANDS of people there. It was intense. The water was fun, and Larkin even played in the water for a little while.

We had to leave our mark on Bear Lake ... we will be back soon to play and relax and sunbathe ... such a great way to spend a fun holiday! Outside and with Family. It doesn't get much better!

When we'd had our fill of sunbathing and wading we headed back to Bren and Dave's house for a bbq and some games ... we were all SO pooped! It took everything we had to stay up and do fireworks on their driveway once the sun went down ... it really was a fabulous weekend!
